March!
I had a hard time getting this month's done. I had started writing many times, and would just run out of juice. I had a topic that I thought was good, but it obviously wasn't inspiring me. I got to thinking about what the heck was going on. This isn't a novel or even a short story. It's just a few paragraphs, of my thoughts, before going into the sections with information on what Shaklee is doing.
I realized I wasn't motivated. It took someone else to tell my they were discouraged before I realized that I was also discouraged. Not necessarily with Shaklee in particular, but things in general.
Whola! I have my topic. Motivation. Or more specifically how do you get out of a funk.
We have all heard about this many times in many different ways. I know I have listened to some the the best speakers out there, so why doesn't it stick? Why do I (and I bet you) become discouraged?
Well there are De-Motivators out there.
Work - Maybe a co-worker really messed things up and you are stuck with a larger work load. Or maybe the boss came down on you for something you didn't have any control over.
Health - Feeling bad is a real downer. Maybe the flu, pulled muscles, allergies, or a chronic condition.
Spouses and Children - Seems like they know just the right buttons to push to bring you down. Even if they don't do it on purpose.
The News - It's hard not to be depressed when watching the news. How many stories of good things have you seen lately?
So what do you do with all this stuff?
Dr. Shaklee recognized the power of thought many, many years ago. "What you think, you are."
Norman Vincent Peale made positive thinking popular with his book "The Power of Positive Thinking"
Tony Robins - you know the really tall guy with all the energy from the TV infomercials. He took a slightly different take on it. He realized that people needed specific techniques to use. Tony calls it "Changing your state."
The Secret is a popular movement right now that you can purchase the CD or even view online. The "Secret" takes it one step further and says that it is important to "feel" as well as think.
The new Tony Robins series "Get the Edge" also talks about the importance of feeling, and enthusiasm
For me Tony and the Secret both affirm Drs. Shaklee and Peale, but offer steps and techniques that I can use everyday.
Things like being grateful for all that I have. Really appreciating those around me, and the things I have accomplished. Waking up each morning and starting your day by giving thanks for all that you have. This is something I can do as I the alarm goes off in the morning, just before rolling over to kiss Shelley good morning and telling her that I love her.
Visualize! Visualization has been a proven technique for athletes for years. I have very good visualization skills, but for those that can't see pictures in their head, use magazine pictures. Put them up where you see them every day. Expect your vision to become reality. You will be surprised how well this works. When I used to rock climb, I would visualize the route up the rock before I started. Doing that enabled me to get up routes others gave up on.
Change your mood! This is what Tony means when he says you can change your "state". Your mood is something that you have complete and total control over. There are so many things in life that affect us, but we have no control over, why not take full advantage of something we are in total control? If you are angry, sad, or depressed you can change your mood. In fact it you can change it instantly. Put on some music you like. Think about your favorite pet. Think about the item on your visualization board. Smile! If you can laugh out loud. All these things will help put you in a good mood.
I often hear that all prayers are answered, its just that the answer may be "No" . What if the answer isn't "No" , but "Not Yet?" Don't give up when things don't happen right away.
I highly recommend that everyone pick up one these sources, and read them or listen to CDs on your way to work (assuming you have a long commute like I do).
Expect good things in your life. Be enthusiastic about your life and the direction you want to go. As your enthusiasm grows, you will attract others who are enthusiastic. Expect good things to happen, and they will.
Well, I feel better now. How about you?

Cinch Update!
Well, my weight seems to be stuck at 106, BUT have had 3 different people tell me I look much thiner this week. The really drive home the point that Cinch is an Inch Loss program rather than a weight loss program.
Shelley bought me a new dress belt, since I can't ware the old one any more!
Right as I was getting into some regular walking, I broke my toe, so I have to wait another week or so before strating the walking again.
